Important Update: MindWeal Health’s Out-of-Network Status with TriCare

Dear Parent / Guardian,

We are writing to share an important update regarding TriCare insurance coverage and pediatric psychiatric services at MindWeal Health.

Due to an administrative transition within TriCare (from TriCare East to TriCare West), MindWeal Health is currently not being recognized as an out-of-network provider. This change was not initiated by our practice and is affecting many families across Metro East St. Louis and Southern Illinois.

Despite more than a year of repeated outreach, phone calls, and emails, we have been unable to finalize an updated out-of-network agreement with TriCare. Unfortunately, this creates a risk of disrupted access to pediatric psychiatric care, which is already extremely limited in our region.

Why This Matters

There is a significant shortage of child and adolescent psychiatry providers in this area. For many families, timely access to care and continuity with an established provider is medically necessary for a child’s emotional health, stability, and progress.

TriCare gives strong consideration to parent-submitted requests when determining medical necessity and access to care.

How You Can Help Advocate for Your Child

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to send a short email or letter to TriCare requesting continued access to pediatric psychiatric services through MindWeal Health.

Your message should briefly explain:

• Your child’s need for ongoing pediatric psychiatric care
• The lack of available in-network child psychiatry providers in this region
• The importance of continuity of care
• A request for TriCare to allow MindWeal Health as an out-of-network provider
