About Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Testing Referrals at MindWeal Health

MindWeal provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children and adolescents.

As part of your child’s care, our clinical team may recommend formal neuropsychological testing for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This type of testing can support diagnostic clarity, educational planning, and access to school or community services.

At this time, MindWeal does not offer in-house neuropsychological testing. Instead, we collaborate with trusted community providers who specialize in autism and neurodevelopmental assessments, including ADOS-based testing.

To make this easier for families, we maintain curated, location-specific referral lists.

Before You Call a Testing Provider (Important)

  • A clinical evaluation for autism has already been completed by MindWeal
  • You are seeking neuropsychological testing for autism, which may include ADOS
  • A referral is not required
  • Per provider policies, you must contact them directly to schedule an appointment

What to Ask When You Call

When speaking with a testing provider, ask:

  • “Do you offer neuropsychological testing for autism?”
  • “Do you perform ADOS testing for autism?”

If the provider answers yes to at least one, they are an appropriate fit.

Also let them know:

  • Your child has already completed a clinical autism evaluation with MindWeal
  • You are seeking Comprehensive autism testing only, not a repeat intake evaluation

Sharing Records With the Testing Provider

To support coordination of care:

  • Please complete and sign MindWeal’s Release of Information (ROI) form
  • Ask that clinical notes from the past year be shared with the testing provider

Sharing records helps reduce duplicate evaluations and ensures continuity of care.

Helpful Reminders

  • Testing availability and wait times vary by provider
  • Insurance acceptance may change and should be confirmed directly
  • It is often helpful to contact multiple providers due to long waitlists
